I love when things happen that remind you that little things matter….some people call them coincidences, some people call them God winks. I prefer the latter.
Yesterday I had one of those. After being gone for several days (and feeling some mom guilt) I forgot to send something to school that my kindergartner needed. I was annoyed that I had to run home to get it, getting my day off to a late start.
When I got back to the school and dropped off what she needed, I noticed the school was having an assembly. I ran the needed items to my daughter and as I was on my way out, her teacher stopped me to tell me she was giving my girl an award.
I had just enough time to run to my car and get my phone to video her. I captured her surprise and joy on camera and she was ecstatic when she saw I was in the audience watching her get this award that was so important to her six-year-old self!
After I gave her a congratulatory hug, I walked to my car smiling the whole way. Instead of being frustrated at the interruption, I realized this was a divine appointment and a redirection in my day so I didn’t miss this special moment to my little girl.
The moral of the story is; stop and smell the roses…even if you don’t want to. Just take a whiff. You just never know what might be waiting for you!

I love this story, Amy! Clay, Avery and Ellie Kay are so lucky to have you as their Mama! You’re so right about stopping to smell the roses. It’s in those moments that we realize there are so many things we miss when we’re rushing through trying to get from one thing to the next. Thank you for this reminder and thank you for being you!
