5 Daily Habits For a Healthy Life >

Hello everyone!

We're so excited to have a guest post from my dear friend Heidi this week!  She's an amazing lady with some simple, but powerful advice.

Enjoy!

~Amy

Top 5 things to do DAILY:

1. Move your Body

(we will cover the BEST way to exercise another time)

Do not feel that if you don’t have an hour to spend in a gym, it won’t be worth it. I promise you, I can get you D-R-I-P-P-I-N-G sweat in 20 minutes from your home. Stay tuned for some free workout videos in future posts, but he key here is to make sure you're getting some movement in every day.

2. BOTTOMS up…

Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. Not a fancy sparkling water, not a flavored water… Good ol’ water. There are too many benefits to list… so you’ll just have to take my word.

3. Take care of your gut.

I can launch into a million (ok maybe 30) reasons and ways to take care of your gut microbiota. It is incredibly diverse compared to other body sites. Our microbiome is composed of bacteria, archaea, viruses and eukaryotic microbes that reside in and on our bodies.

These microbes have the ability to greatly to impact our physiology, both in health and in disease. They contribute metabolic functions, protect against pathogens, educate the immune system, and, through these basic functions, affect directly or indirectly most of our physiologic functions. So you can say they are a big deal. I like to take a shot of raw Apple Cider Vinegar, with the ‘mother’ floating in it, with a little water each morning.

4.  Be Grateful! (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Start a gratitude journal, it is amazing how that shifts your mindset and heart attitude and it makes us happier people and people want to be around happy people, not crab apples.

5. SLEEP!

Did you know that short sleep duration is one of the strongest risk factors for obesity? It messes with our hormones, when we are tired we are less likely to work out. People who are poor sleepers are at higher risk for strokes and heart disease. Getting a good nights rest boosts your immune system, helps your concentration, productivity and performance.

P.S.  Back to my advice to MOVE YOUR BODY, nothing improves a workout experience more than a good headband.  :)
