Being a Mom is an Important Job

by Amy Crouse May 09, 2015 16 Comments

We all know being a Mother is an important job.  If we didn't, we probably wouldn't try so hard.  We'd probably just put in a "satisfactory" effort, and call it a day.  We definitely wouldn't worry so much about messing it up.

Let me take the pressure off a bit.  YOU'RE GOING TO MESS IT UP!...Wait! wait!...Before you make plans to slash my tires, hear me out...

The perfect Mom doesn't exist.  No matter how hard we try, you will eventually forget something that is important to one of your children, do something to embarrass them, or say something to them you'll regret.

Now let me (actually) take the pressure off of you.  God loves your kids more than you do.  I know you can't imagine that.  I know it doesn't seem possible. I know that it may be hard for you to hear, but it's true.

All you can do is raise your children the best you know how, and at the end of it all...It will be enough.  Why?  Not because you were perfect, but because God loves them, and will help them find their way.  He'll give them the wisdom you forgot to give them.  He'll transform them into the people they are supposed to be.

I pray you'll rest in God's grace this Mother's Day.  Celebrate the striving, the mistakes, the failures, and a God that makes your best...Perfect.

Happy Mother's Day!

So true! Thanks for posting this. I read another blog recently about remembering that He is the driver. He’ll always go just as fast or slow as we need, checking all along the way. It doesn’t feel like it in the thick of things, but it’s true. We have to trust our Driver with motherhood, as with everything else.

Amy, I appreciate your Mother’s Day message. God loves our children much more than we do. Hard to comprehend but our minds are not like his. Thank you for your courage to spread God’s word.

Thank you for your encouraging words bc right now i have tears streaming down my face because sometimes being a mom of a 16yr old girl & a 12yr old boy just makes you feel like one big failure. . . I pray that God will give them the wisdom that i feel i am completely forgetting or failing to teach them.
